Most of us know what it’s like to have our emotions affect our mental and physical state. When we’re feeling sad, angry, fearful, or anxious, it can impact our behaviour and actions. When we’re happy, we tend to feel more energetic and vibrant. Our emotions are derived from our thoughts. What thoughts we have consciously or subconsciously determine how we feel. Our emotions tell us a lot about our current state of mind and perceptions.
We can experience emotional overwhelm when we have not taken the time to process our thoughts and feelings. We may have unconsciously suppressed our uncomfortable feelings via numbing out, self-medicating, distracting ourselves, or masking our pain beneath unhealthy addictions and coping strategies.
Our emotional state is firmly tied to our mental, physical and spiritual wellness.
Emotional, psychological, and narcissistic abuse can deeply impact your sense of identity, safety, and self-worth—often leaving you feeling isolated, confused, or questioning your reality. As a counsellor with a compassionate, trauma-informed approach, I offer a safe and supportive space to gently explore these experiences and begin healing.
Together, we’ll work to untangle the patterns and effects of abuse, rebuild your confidence, and reconnect you with your voice, boundaries, and inner strength. You deserve to feel whole, empowered, and free to live as your authentic self—and you don’t have to do it alone.
Feeling anxious or depressed is a common experience as we traverse through the ups and downs of life. Sometimes we just need a safe and neutral space to share our feelings and circumstances to gain new perspectives to see our way through.
There are however more intense levels of Anxiety and Depression that can manifest in many different forms, depending on our unique life experiences. If you are feeling hopeless, unmotivated, lost, unsettled, worthless, or stuck in a holding pattern, then it’s a good time to reach out for professional support so that you can gain a deeper understanding of how to move forward from where you are currently standing.
In a session, we will explore your current experience, associated thoughts, traumas, triggers and behaviours that may be keeping you in an undesirable state. I always take a client-centred approach and want to make you feel as comfortable as possible in sharing your personal experiences with me. We will incorporate a range of techniques, such as Systemic Therapy, CBT, Mindfulness, Somatics, Relaxation Techniques and Narrative Therapy to develop strategies and tools to help you find your way through, in a supportive and collaborative way.
Trauma is more common than we tend to realise. When our nervous system is overwhelmed by a stressful event (whether it be perceived as big or small) and the stress was never discharged, the effect is what we call trauma. Trauma is not just what happened to us, it is the dysregulated state that is the result of what has happened to us.
Trauma can very easily become our identity. When we unknowingly attach ourselves to it, we keep repeating cycles, until we begin to question why we have become so exhausted, fearful, overwhelmed, burnt out, or physically ill.
In a session, we will explore your unique experience of trauma in a safe space.
Utilising Holistic and mainstream psychology approaches, we will work towards reframing your experience, so that you can begin the healing process, apply new knowledge to make positive changes and embody a healthier way of being.
Whether you have experienced childhood trauma, generational trauma, abuse, PTSD, repeated exposures to trauma, you are trying to manage a current trauma, or confronting a situation, we will work together in a supportive and collaborative way towards your recovery.
Some of us struggle more than others to believe in ourselves, make more empowered choices in our lives and feel confident. This is often due to a limiting belief we hold about ourselves. We all have our own unique gifts to share with the world and we must be able to recognise our strengths and know how worthy we are of reaching our goals and living a life of purpose.
In our session, we will explore your circumstances and help you identify what limiting beliefs and negative thoughts are holding you back from stepping into the person you wish to be. We will help you process + release your past. Using a strength-based approach and drawing on various therapeutic techniques, we will help you remember how truly capable you are of overcoming your current obstacles in a safe, non-judgmental and supportive space.
Maintaining balance in life can be easier said than done. Life can feel overwhelming at times, but when we find ourselves in a constant state of stress, feel burnt out, or are depressed, it can be very beneficial to seek support.
In an era where we are often asked to do more, give more & be more, we are in desperate need of staying connected to ourselves and aligned with what is important to us.
In a session, we will conduct a lifestyle analysis and bring awareness to any imbalances, so that you can make positive changes and restore yourself to a state of homeostasis. Using a client-centred approach and drawing on various modalities, such as mindfulness, relaxation and breathing techniques, together we will help you develop suitable strategies to better cope with stress, feel more confident and be in alignment with yourself again.
You may have heard the term: HSP, or Sensory Processing Sensitivity and wondered if it applies to you, or someone you know. Around 20% of the population are said to be Highly Sensitive People, so it’s highly likely that you know someone… even if they don’t know it themselves yet.
You may be an HSP if you: tend to process information more deeply, you are emotionally, mentally and physically sensitive to the highs and lows of life, very perceptive, empathic and deeply feel the emotional energy of others, sensitive to high-stimulation environments – like crowds, busy roads, noisy places, as well as rough fabrics and you feel you always need time-out to replenish yourself.
If you feel this could be you or someone you know – as an HSP myself, I will help you see your sensitivity as a strength and define what you need to sustain your energy. We will work together so that you better understand this trait, to help you advocate for yourself, navigate your relationships more effectively, and better support others who may be HSPs.
Finding the right support is a unique journey for everyone. Connecting with a therapist who truly understands you, and with whom you feel safe, seen, and supported, is a deeply personal and meaningful step.
